Biographie

Roger Corman, né le 5 avril 1926 à Détroit (Michigan), est un cinéaste américain. On lui doit plus d'une cinquantaine de films au titre de réalisateur, et 400 au titre de producteur, souvent des films à petit budget. Formidable dénicheur de talents, il a lancé bon nombre de réalisateurs aujourd'hui reconnus comme Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Francis Ford Coppola, Joe Dante, James Cameron, le critique Peter Bogdanovich ou encore Jonathan Demme. Il a également fait de Vincent Price son acteur fétiche. Les films de Roger Corman font de Vincent Price un monument du cinéma d'épouvante.

Au Moyen Âge, en Italie, le prince Prospero, seigneur des lieux humilie ses paysans en les terrorisant, en brûlant leurs maisons et en faisant prisonnier Francesca, une jeune paysanne avec son père et son petit ami. Alors que le convoi de Prospero s’apprête à repartir vers son château, ce dernier à la révélation que la « mort rouge » s’abat sur la région. Alors il invite tous les nobles des environs à s’abriter dans son château à l’intérieur duquel il les diverti et donne un grand bal masqué. Prospero tente de courtiser Francesca, mais Juliana, l’actuelle compagne de Prospero voit ce projet d’un mauvais œil. Voulant l'éloigner elle organise leur fuite, mais l'évasion est un échec et Propero se vengera cruellement. Alors que la fête bat son plein, Prospero se retrouve alors devant un étrange personnage masqué : la Mort Rouge.

Le monde a été détruit par une guerre nucléaire. Tony Lamont et Ruby, pris dans une tempête de poussière, tentent d'atteindre le ranch, isolé, de Rick et Louise Maddison. Jim, le père de Louise, refuse de les laisser entrer car il n'y a assez de nourriture que pour trois personnes. Mais Tony s'introduit dans la maison. Devant le fait accompli, Jim finit par les accueillir. Il leur fait changer de vêtements et se laver à l'eau pure. Pendant ce temps, Rick a trouvé une victime des rayonnements, Radek, qui est très mal en point. Mais contre toute attente, Radek se remet très vite et montre un comportement anormal. Il ne semble pas manger mais se montre très en forme. Bien vite, il apparaît que Radek est un mutant, qui chasse pour sa survie et se nourrit de lapins crus. Il se montre même cannibale en dévorant un vieux prospecteur réfugié dans une mine.

Roger William Corman (4/26/1926 – 5/9/2024) was an iconic figure in low-budget filmmaking, with over several hundred films in which he either directed or produced (in this upload's case, directing). Much of his work has gained cult status and been recognized by the masses via retrospectives and Mystery Science Theater 3000 . Five Guns West (1955): During the Civil War, five criminals pardoned by the Confederacy are sent into Comanche-territory to recover Union-seized gold and capture a turncoat. Apache Woman (1955): A government agent is sent to a western town to investigate attacks that the townspeople say are being committed by rampaging Apaches. The agent, however, suspects that different forces may be committing these crimes. Day the World Ended (1955): In a post-apocalyptic world after an atomic war, seven disparate people find themselves in a protected valley in the home of a survivalist and his beautiful daughter. Swamp Women [aka Swamp Diamonds ] (1956): An undercover policewoman helps three female convicts escape from prison so they can lead her to a stash of stolen diamonds hidden in a swamp. [ Featured as experiment 503 on Mystery Science Theater 3000 ] The Oklahoma Woman (1956): After six years in jail, Steve returns to claim a ranch left him in a will. Attack of the Crab Monsters (1957): Scientists become trapped on a shrinking island with intelligent, murderous giant crabs. Rock All Night (1957): The local teen hangout has been taken over by a pair of escaped killers, who hold the local youths hostage. The Undead (1957): A beautiful woman is sent back in time via hypnosis to the Middle Ages where she finds she is suspected of being a witch, and subject to execution. Sorority Girl (1957): A poor little rich girl, feeling alienated by her mother, enacts a string of torment on her pupils at a girls' boarding school, increasingly aggravating them until she goes too far. The Saga of the Viking Women and Their Voyage to the Waters of the Great Sea Serpent [aka Viking Women and the Sea Serpent ] (1958): A group of lonely Viking women set off to locate their missing menfolk, only to fall into the clutches of the barbarians also holding their men captive. Machine Gun Kelly (1958): George Kelly is angry at the world and scared to death of dying. A career bank robber, Kelly gets his confidence from his Thompson SMG and his girl Flo. After a botched robbery, Flo, Kelly and his gang try their hand at a more lucrative job: kidnapping. She Gods of Shark Reef (1958): Two brothers, one wanted for murder, are shipwrecked on an island inhabited by nubile young women who have amassed a valuable cache of pearls. Teenage Caveman (1958): A young man defies tribal laws and searches for answers. The result of his quest yields knowledge of past generations. Von Richthofen and Brown (1971): The story of Manfred von Richthofen, the German air ace during World War I and his struggle with the enemy aces and some jealous German officers. Deathsport (1978): Ranger guides on horseback wield transparent swords against 30th-century motorcycle gladiators. Il assassine donc son cadet, le duc de Clarence, que le roi mourant a désigné comme protecteur. Dès lors, Richard bascule dans un engrenage meurtrier afin d'asseoir sa position sur le trône mais est hanté par les fantômes de ses victimes qui prophétisent la mort brutale du prétendant à la couronne.

Petit gangster médiocre, George Kelly, que son amie Florence Becker a surnommé "Mitraillette", a réussi un audacieux hold-up en compagnie de deux complices. Lors du partage, il s'aperçoit que Fandango a subtilisé quelques billets. De rage, Kelly le jette dans la cage d'un puma qui lui arrache un bras... Peu après, la bande attaque une nouvelle banque. Mais, superstitieux, Kelly est paralysé par le passage d'un corbillard et fait échouer le casse à cause du minutage très précis. L'un des hommes est tué par la police. Howard, l'un des complices, s'oppose au gangster en le rendant responsable.
